1. Chemical Thesaurus Reaction Chemistry Database The Chemical Thesaurus is a reaction chemistry information system which removes the artificial barriers between different subdisciplinary areas of chemistry by presenting a unified vision of inorganic and organic reaction chemistry. The database is a free, open access resource. 2. Molecules of the Month (April 2006) Raloxifene: a selective estrogen receptor modulator used to treat osteoporosis. Chlorophyll a: a green pigment used by plants in photosynthesis. Coronene: a polynuclear aromatic hydrocarbon. Lidocaine: a local anesthetic and an antiarrhythmic drug. Skatole: The smell of human excrement. 3rd IUPAC International Symposium on Macro- and Supramolecular Architectures and Materials (MAM-06): Practical Nano-Chemistry and Novel Approaches On-line tool which allows to draw chemical structures and various drug-relevant properties are calculated on-the-fly. The prediction results are valued and color coded. A green color indicates drug-conform behaviour but properties with high risks of undesired effects (e.g. mutagenicity or poor intestinal absorption) are shown in red. Aziridines and epoxides are among the most widely used intermediates in organic synthesis, acting as precursors to complex molecules due to the strains incorporated in their skeletons. |
