1. RSS feeds for organic chemists RSS (Really Simple Syndication) feeds are an easy and efficient way to receive notification when new information is available in a specific area of interest. Specific examples for organic chemists are the RSS feeds of the table of contents of your favourites journals and of the five most recent jobs at "Jobs for Organic Chemists". http://www.organicworldwide.net/rssfeeds.html 2. Molecules of the Month (June 2006) Chamazulene: a deep blue oil extracted from the chamomile flower. Eugenol: the principle ingredient in oil of cloves. Desloratadine: a histamine H1-receptor antagonist. The Manganese-calcium oxide cluster of Photosystem II http://www.bris.ac.uk/Depts/Chemistry/MOTM/motm.htm Aliskiren fumarate: potentially the first renin inhibitor to reach the market. http://www.prous.com/molecules/default.asp?ID=148 RSS 3. Upcoming Organic Synthesis Conferences (July 2006) July 2-7, Okazaki, Japan International Conference on Porphyrins and Phthalocyanines July 2-7, Rome, Italy International Symposium on Organocatalysis in Organic Synthesis July 5-7, Glasgow, United Kindom MCR-2006 - 3rd International Conference on Multicomponent Reactions and Related Chemistry July 9-11, Amsterdam, The Netherlands Euchem Conference on Organic Free Radicals July 9-13, Bergen, Norway 14th International Conference on Organic Process Research & Development July 17-19, Vancouver, Canada XXII International Conference on Organometallic Chemistry - ICOMC2006 July 23-28, Zaragoza, Spain ICOB-5 & ISCNP-25 IUPAC International Conference on Biodiversity and Natural Products July 23-28, Kyoto, Japan XXIIIrd International Carbohydrate Symposium July 23-28, Whistler, Canada The Beilstein database has passed the milestone of ten million structure-searchable reactions. The ten millionth reaction was extracted from a paper entitled "Enantioselective synthesis of the phosphate esters of the immunosuppressive lipid FTY720" 5. Spectral Data Base System (SDBS)
SDBS is a continuously updated integrated spectral database system for organic compounds, which includes electron impact mass (EI-MS), Fourier transform infrared spectrum (FT-IR), 1H nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR), 13C NMR, laser Raman spectrum and electron spin resonance (ESR) spectra. |
