1. The Nobel Prize in Chemistry 2007

The Nobel Prize in Chemistry for 2007 is awarded to Gerhard Ertl. His insights have provided the scientific basis of modern surface chemistry and the methodology is used in both academic research and the industrial development of chemical processes.

Isoamyl acetate: has a strong fruity odor, used in many flavouring applications.

Acrylic acid: highly reactive carboxylic acid, used in the manufacture of plastics, paint formulations etc.

Taurine: important ingredient in energy drinks. It was first isolated from Ox bile (named for Taurus in Latin).
